Rieng Genje!! Why Spider Clan Is The New Face Of Gengetone
By Presta, 16 July 2023
As I sit here writing this article I couldn’t help but notice how spider clan have come from nothing to getting everything .
The Rieng Genje hit makers have managed to capture the nation with their new style of urban music popularly known as Gengetone.
They have also taken me back to 2018 when Ethic Ke first dropped the first viral Gengetone song ‘lamba lolo’ which introduced the nation to the Genre.
Just like Ethic Ke , Spider Clan have openly challenged the limits that are set for a song to be a Hit, for in both scenarios the videos to the song would be considered to be of “low quality” by the current industry standards.
- Dennoh 77 Returns Stronger: New Music, New Mindset, and No LimitsKenyan rapper Dennoh 77 is making a powerful return to the music scene after taking a personal hiatus marked by life’s toughest moments.
- King KarZ Unveils ‘Away From HomeKenyan-Australian rapper King KarZ is set to drop his deeply personal mixtape, Away From Home, this week, marking the culmination of a lifelong dream forged across continents.
- Underrated Kenyan Tunes Poised to Take Over .Kenya’s music landscape is bursting with talent, and while some artists dominate the charts, others are quietly crafting sonic gems that are just one moment away from taking over.
- Kenyan Oontz Star Nes Mburu Hits Over 300K Spotify Monthly Listeners.Kenyan Oontz sensation Nes Mburu has officially smashed the 300,000 monthly listeners milestone on Spotify, cementing his place among Kenya’s Top 100 most-streamed artists!
- Kenyan-British DnB Star Degs Set To Drop His Anticipated Album ‘If We Left This Earth’. Kenyan-British drum and bass virtuoso Degs is set to unleash his highly anticipated second album, If We Left This Earth, on May 8th via Hospital Records.
But depsite this the group has broken barriers as first the song started out as meme , but it has now gone on to become a national wide anthem .
So much that no recently released Kenyan song has been able to topple the song off the charts in the whole two months that the song has been out sitting at a pretty 2.3Million views at the time of writing this piece.
Additionally it’s important to note whilst Ethic started the wave , the mantle has been passed on officially to Spider Clan.
They too have brought a new flavour to the game and all the young artists are now looking up to them as they have the number one song in the country .
This not only makes them the country’s next big stars but also generational artists as all of them are from the Gen Z generation
Many have called spider clan a one hit wonder but we will leave it to time for just like when Ethic first dropped lamba lolo’ they too were also told the same .
So don’t get shocked when you see Spider Clan getting booked , right left and centre , hanging out with politicians and Celebrities alike, It’s their time to shine for like I said inthe heading they are the new wave of Gengetone like it or not.
