Young Thug Celebrates 32nd Birthday in Prison

Today marks Young Thug’s 32nd birthday. Recently named the 6th most influential Atlanta rapper of all time, Young Thug is currently serving time in prison on RICO indictment charges.

The YSL founder was arrested in mid-2022, and his trial has been ongoing for well over a year, making it the longest trial in Georgia’s history. Many of his fans, along with former President Donald Trump, have expressed that the lengthy trial is unfair.

Notably, it was also on his birthday five years ago that Young Thug released his critically acclaimed album So Much Fun. One of the tracks from that album, “How It Is,” has even been used as evidence in his ongoing trial.

Despite his incarceration, Young Thug’s music career remains strong. His recent album and features on other tracks have been topping the charts. Artists signed to his label, such as Gunna, are also smashing album sales and amassing millions of streams.

Even after being in prison for such a long time, the rap community has been instrumental in rallying for his freedom—a movement they hope will lead to his release soon.
